The Synod offers us the opportunity to become a listening church…To listen to the Spirit in adoration and prayer…To listen to our brothers and sisters speak of their hopes and the crises of faith…to become a Church of Closeness. Let us keep going back to God’s own “style”, which is closeness, compassion and tender love.  (Pope Francis, Address For The Opening of the Synod, 9 October 2021)

 Synod Update:
“Enlarge the Space of Your Tent”

The local listening stages for the Synod of Bishops have been summarized in a document that will be used for the next Continental Stage of the Synod.  This document presents a good picture of the concerns and issues of the church throughout the world.  It is interesting to see that there are some unique issues in different parts of the world, but how many common concerns and issues are shared throughout the church in all parts of the world.  The scriptural theme of the document is “Enlarge the Space of Your Tent” coming from a passage in Isaiah.  To read this document go to the Working Document for the Continental Stage by clicking HERE.

Parish Synod Body

During the past year, our parish synod body consisting of about 20 parishioners (from Corpus Christi site and Our Lady of Lourdes site), has been meeting monthly to discuss issues in our parish and plans for the future.  In particular, at this time, we are looking at plans for Stewardship awareness in the parish.

Beginning in the new year we want to encourage as many parishioners as possible to take on various ways of serving in the parish as we prepare to enter the new church building.  If you have any particular issues or ideas you would like for the parish, please send it through to Fr. Mark, Fr. Patras or Rachel in our parish office.  We will share it with the parish Synod Body.
