How Much Do We Give God

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Over the last few encouragements, we have been learning to begin our day with God, to open every room of our heart to Jesus, to recognize His loving presence throughout the day, and to end each day with gratitude to God.

Essentially, what I have been trying to guide us in doing is making room for God in our daily lives, but more than that, to invite God into our hearts. Allowing the Holy Spirit to cleanse our hearts, so that He can establish His throne front and center in our hearts.

This means focusing on God not only during daily Mass, if we are able to attend daily Mass, or only during Sunday Mass, times of Adoration, and prayer, however long it may be.

The goal in these first few encouragements was to give our first fruits of every day to God, rather than putting Him aside and carrying on with the tasks of the day until our next “God time,” saying, “Here I am again,” and spending a few moments with Him until our “God time” is finished.

Dear friends in Christ, I encourage you, as I encourage myself, to invite Jesus Christ with us wherever we go and during whatever we do. In that way, we will always establish and cultivate a personal, ongoing relationship with God our Father.

In this intimacy, we can have the courage to call Him “Daddy” and, in doing so, not feel irreverent about it.

God is not asking us to give Him only a few moments of our day. Yes, God respects our free will and the responsibilities we have during the day. That is why He desires our whole hearts and wants to walk with us throughout our entire day. Because as much as we want a relationship with God, He desires a relationship with us, His children, that much more.

May we continue to make room for God in our lives and invite Jesus into everything we do, allowing Him to become the center of our hearts and our lives.
