Recognize His Presence Throughout Your Day
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Over the last two encouragements, I have invited you to begin each day with five simple words: “Good morning, Daddy, thank you,” and then to take steps to open every room of your heart to Jesus.
Today, I would like to encourage you to do one more simple thing. Throughout the day, pause every so often and ask yourself this question: Where is God right now?
Many of us think we will only find God in church, during prayer, or while reading Sacred Scripture. Certainly, He is there. However, God is also present in the ordinary moments of our day. For example:
– He is present in the smile of a stranger.
– He is present in the kindness of a friend.
– He is present when someone forgives us.
– He is present in the quiet moments when we simply stop and listen.
Sometimes we become so busy with life that we forget God is walking beside us. We rush from one responsibility to the next, constantly bombarded with our daily tasks and the external and internal distractions, that we tend to lose sight of Christ, thereby hardening our hearts and essentially telling the Lord, “I just have to do this… wait here,” instead of inviting Jesus with us, accepting His continued presence and companionship in our daily lives.
Jesus never promised that every day would be easy. There will be moments of tension, hardship, suffering, disappointment, and uncertainty. Yet even in those moments, He has not abandoned us. Sometimes He is carrying us when we don’t even realize it.
Perhaps today, when you are waiting in line, sitting quietly at home, or taking a short break from your work, simply whisper:
“Jesus, thank You for being here.”
You don’t need a long prayer. Sometimes those few simple words are enough to remind your heart that you are never alone.
The more we become aware of God’s presence throughout the day, the more we begin to recognize that every moment can become an opportunity to love Him a little more.
May our loving Father open our eyes to His presence today, and may we never forget that wherever we go, Jesus walks with us.
