Open Every Room of Your Heart to Him

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In my first encouragement to you, I invited you to begin each day with five simple words: “Good morning, Daddy, thank you.” I truly hope you have been trying this little prayer as your morning salutation to Our Lord. If you have, I pray you are beginning to discover that God really is a loving Father who delights in hearing from His children.

Today, I would like to encourage you to take one more small step. After saying, “Good morning, Daddy, thank you,” ask yourself this simple question: Is there any part of my life that I have not yet given to God?

Our lives can be compared to a house with many rooms. There is a room for our family, another for our friendships, another for our work or studies, another for our thoughts, another for our hopes and dreams, and even rooms that we try to keep hidden because of fear, shame, or past hurts.

Sometimes we invite Jesus into the front room of our house, but quietly keep the other doors closed. We may say, “Lord, You are welcome here… but not in this room.”

Yet Jesus never forces His way into our lives. He respects our free will; Jesus gently knocks and patiently waits for us to invite Him in. He does not want to enter so He can condemn us. He wants to enter because He loves us and desires to heal us, strengthen us, and fill every part of our lives with His peace. A powerful image of this is: Jesus standing by your bed every morning with
open arms asking, “How much will you love me today?”

Perhaps today, after saying, “Good morning, Daddy, thank you,” spend just one quiet minute with the Lord. Walk through the house of your heart and ask Him if there is a room that still needs to be opened. Then simply say, “Jesus, this room belongs to You too.”

The beautiful thing is that we do not have to open every door at once. Our loving Father is patient.

Day by day, room by room, Jesus won’t rush you. Remember He will meet you where you are.

May we never be afraid to welcome Jesus into every room of our lives, trusting that wherever He is invited, His love and grace will always be greater than our fears.
